Robla SD Celebrates Black History Month!

February is Black History Month, and Robla School District is excited to celebrate with a variety of events and activities honoring Black culture, history, and achievements! Throughout the month, students, families, and staff will have opportunities to engage in meaningful learning experiences that highlight the rich contributions of Black leaders, artists, scientists, and changemakers.

📌 Black History Month Parent Empowerment Dinner

Join us for an inspiring evening featuring keynote speaker Dr. Luke Wood, President of Sacramento State.

This event will celebrate Black excellence, family empowerment, and community connection.

📌 School-Wide Learning & Classroom Activities

Throughout February, our schools will incorporate engaging lessons, storytelling, art projects, and discussions to explore Black history and culture. From influential figures to historical milestones, students will gain a deeper understanding of the impact of Black leaders past and present.

📌 Library Spotlights & Book Readings
Each school library will feature books written by Black authors and stories highlighting Black history and culture. Special guest readers will also visit classrooms to share inspiring stories.

📌 Student Writing Contest
We invite students in 4th-6th Grade to participate in the 2025 Black History Month Essay Contest! 

Theme: Interview two people who are in college, thinking about going to college, or working in education about the impact education has had on their lives. 
Who Can Participate: 4th - 6th Grade Students
Deadline: Friday, February 25, 2025 
Prizes: Each Grade Level - 1st Place - $100, 2nd Place - $50, 3rd Place - $25 | Plus a special lunch with the Superintendent
