Join us throughout May as we celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month. Robla School District, in partnership with the Roberts Family Development Center, is proud to present a series of enriching cultural events. These festivities are designed to enhance community engagement and foster a deeper understanding of the vibrant traditions and contributions of the AAPI community.
Mandarin Drum Lunchtime Concerts
Students will experience the spirit and rhythm of the acclaimed Mandarin Drumline as they perform across various schools in our district. The Sacramento Mandarins, originally formed in 1963 to provide a performance arts outlet for Chinese-American youth, will showcase their diverse and inclusive evolution with these dynamic performances.
Parent Empowerment Dinner
Our AAPI Heritage Month events will conclude with the Parent Empowerment Dinner at Main Avenue Elementary School's Multipurpose Room. This special evening will feature Paul Lau, CEO & General Manager of the Sacramento Municipal Utility District, who will share his personal journey and insights on navigating success in America. Attendees will enjoy a complimentary dinner, childcare services, an exhibition of AAPI-themed student artwork, and a lively performance by the Clementine Brass Band.
